We’re looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year on 12th February.

We have been making Chinese dragons and have a delicious Chinese themed lunch planned to welcome in the new Year of the Ox.

What does the Year of the Ox symbolise for 2021?

Hong Kong based Chinese and Western Astrologer Jupiter Lai says the ox is “grounded, loyal, gentle and trustworthy”. A creature of the earth, in China the ox is a sign of strength, most commonly associated with fertility and harvests.

After a year of anxiety and upheaval, this might be just what the world needs! Especially since, thanks to feng shui, the Chinese art of using energy to establish harmony between people and their environment, the ox is considered rather auspicious.
